The Judicial Branch Education Academy (JBEA) offers a unique signature initiative, the International Judicial
Exchange Program, designed to foster global collaboration, professional development, and cultural enrichment for
judges, court executives, and legal professionals. These curated exchanges bring together participants from the
United States and their counterparts abroad for immersive learning experiences that blend comparative law, judicial
and court education, and cross-cultural dialogue.
Each exchange is hosted in partnership with judicial institutions, law schools, and national courts in the
destination country. Participants engage in substantive educational sessions, roundtables, and site visits that
explore topics such as judicial ethics, wellness, experiential teaching methods, and emerging legal technologies.
Continuing Judicial Education (CJE) and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits are available for eligible
sessions, ensuring that participants return home not only inspired but also professionally enriched.
While the itinerary and host institutions vary by country, every program is thoughtfully designed to balance rigorous
academic engagement with cultural exploration. Participants may visit historic courts, attend lectures at renowned
universities, and meet with officials from ministries of justice and U.S. embassies and consulates. Equally
important are the opportunities to experience local cuisine, heritage sites, and exchange ideas with colleagues.
These exchanges are intentionally intimate, limited in number of participants to encourage meaningful connections and
dialogue. Registration includes educational programming, local transportation, selected meals, receptions, and entry
to cultural and historical venues. Discounted hotel rates are negotiated for each destination.
